What will happen if we give a DC supply to a Transformer

If we give DC supply to a Transformer. A very high current will be drawn as the winding will provide very low resistance due to absence of back-emf due to dc supply.
This will result in a very high current which can damage the DC supply and the Transformer winding. Hence, a DC supply should not be connected to the Transformer winding.
