For Distribution Transformer, we use a Delta-Star Transformer. This is because the HV Delta winding requires only 3 inputs. No neutral is required. The secondary Star has a neutral which is earthed. The neutral Current which flows in the secondary is supplied by the delta primary itself. This is an advantage of the Delta-Star Transformer.
During Star to Delta Transformation, there is a phase shift of 30 degrees which is unavoidable. Thus a distribution Transformer can be Dyn11 or Dyn5.
However, as a matter of convention, the Dyn11 is used. Having a uniform vector group makes it easy to parallel transformers when necessary.
